🍂 Cooler Days, Dry Air – Don’t Be Fooled! 🍂
At first, this feels great: fresh air, less stickiness, and walls that seem dry.
But here’s the catch:
⚠️ Low humidity only hides the symptoms of damp.
⚠️ The moisture inside walls and floors hasn’t disappeared—it’s just lying dormant.
⚠️ Once the wetter autumn weeks come, the same problems (mold, peeling paint, damp smells) will reappear quickly, often worse than before.
💡 Now is the best time to act, before rain and rising humidity expose hidden damage.

🌡️☀️ Summer Heat Won’t Save Your Home from Damp
But here’s the truth:
🔍 Dry air doesn’t cure damp – it only dries the surface, while moisture stays trapped deep in your walls and floors.
🏚️ Hidden damage continues – the structure of your home can still weaken, and mold spores remain ready to return once humidity rises again.
💨 False sense of security – everything looks fine in July, but come autumn, the problems reappear even worse.
At DRY EXPERT, we provide long-term solutions such as:
✔️ Hydrophobic wall injections against rising damp
✔️ Breathable plaster systems to let walls dry properly

🌞 Don’t Be Fooled by Dry Summer Air! 🌞
👉 The truth is:
- The heat & dryness only pull out surface moisture.
- Inside your walls, the damp remains trapped.
- As soon as autumn brings rain & humidity, the problem comes back — often worse than before.
💡 Dry summers don’t solve damp problems — they just hide them temporarily.
That’s why it’s smart to fix the root cause now, before the wetter season returns.

Mold Despite Ventilation? Here's Why It Happens… 😷🏠
💡 Common mistake:
Leaving windows slightly open all day ❌
➡ This cools the walls, wastes energy & barely replaces air
✅ The right way to ventilate:
• Open ALL windows for 5–10 minutes
• Do this 2–3x a day (💨 "shock ventilation")
• Keeps air dry without cooling your home too much
🚿 In bathrooms:
Install smart extractor fans with humidity sensors to fight mold automatically
If you’re struggling with mold even after proper ventilation, it may be time for professional help.

Flat Roof Waterproofing — What Every Homeowner Should Know
Without proper waterproofing, water can collect, seep in, and lead to serious structural damage over time.
So how do we keep them dry for good?
Why Flat Roofs Are Tricky:
Unlike pitched roofs, flat roofs don’t drain water easily.
That means rainwater can pool on the surface — especially if there are cracks or poor insulation.
Over time, this leads to:
- Damp spots inside the ceiling
- Mold and mildew
- Cracks and sagging
Our DRY-EXPERT Waterproofing System:
Here’s how we protect your roof step by step:
✔️ Inspection
We assess the structure, slope, and existing material.
✔️ Cleaning & Prep
We clean the surface, fix cracks, and remove damaged sections.
✔️ Membrane Application
We apply a high-quality waterproof membrane — elastic, UV-resistant, and long-lasting. This seals the surface fully and adapts to temperature changes.
✔️ Optional Thermal Insulation
In many cases, we recommend adding insulation underneath — it reduces heat, prevents condensation, and boosts energy efficiency.
Why Choose DRY-EXPERT?
- Years of experience in flat roof damp prevention
- Certified, weather-resistant materials
- Fast, clean installation
- Long-term guarantees

How Do I Know If My Home Is Too Humid?
Too much humidity can create a breeding ground for mold — and trigger health issues for your family.
Ideal indoor humidity should stay between 45–65%.
(You can check this using a hygrometer or your AC control panel, if available.)
Balanced humidity is essential:
- Too much = mold, dampness, musty smells
- Too little = dry skin, cracked lips, and static shocks
5 signs your home may be too humid:
1. Condensation on windows, mirrors, pipes, or cool surfaces
2. Stains or discoloration on ceilings and walls
3. Damp patches or softness in floors, walls, or wooden furniture
4. Musty smells — step outside and come back in to test your nose
5. Allergy-like symptoms, like wheezing or coughing, with no clear cause

Proper Ventilation in Summer: Windows Open or Closed on Hot Days?
Here’s what our DRY EXPERTS recommend:
Open all windows wide early in the morning, when the outside air is cooler.
Keep windows and shutters closed from early noon to late afternoon, when outdoor temperatures are highest.
General rule: Only open windows when it’s cooler outside than inside. Your weather app can help.
For lasting cooling, leave windows open overnight when possible — this allows trapped heat to escape.
🔄 Important tip: If you're showering or cooking during the day, open the windows right away. That humid air needs to leave immediately.
High humidity + summer heat = perfect conditions for mould. Proper ventilation is key.

How We Treat Different Types of Damp — The DRY EXPERT Way
Here’s how our DRY EXPERTs handle them:
Condensation Damp
This is the most common type, caused by trapped moisture and poor airflow.
The solution? Better ventilation.
We recommend:
Smart extractor fans (especially for bathrooms and kitchens)
Our special anti-condensation coating
These two combined help moisture escape and prevent mold from forming in the first place.
Penetrating Damp (Damp by Filtration)
This happens when water seeps into walls from outside — usually from blocked gutters, leaks, adjacent soil, or damaged roof tiles.
Our experts will:
Check your roof, pipes, and drains for damage or blockages
Repair leaks and install proper drainage
Fix the source, and the damp disappears.
Rising Damp
If you smell damp or see paint peeling at the bottom of your walls, this could be rising damp — moisture from the ground working its way up.
Full floor insulation is one option — but it’s expensive.
We offer a more affordable (but just as effective) solution:
A horizontal moisture barrier
Waterproof and breathable plaster system
This combo stops rising moisture for good — and keeps your walls clean and dry.

💧 What Is Damp Proofing—and Why You Should Care 💧
Our damp proofing service doesn’t just cover up symptoms—it finds the root of the problem and prevents it from returning. Here’s what we tackle:
🔸 Condensation – When warm air meets cold surfaces, it causes water droplets on windows, walls, and corners. This leads to mold, mildew, and bubbling paint. Poor ventilation is usually the cause.
🔸 Penetrating Damp – Water leaking in through damaged pipes, roofs, or walls. It seeps into your ceilings or plaster and shows up as stains, flaking paint, or soft and wet plaster.
🔸 Rising Damp – Very common in homes with poor ground insulation. Moisture rises from the floor into walls, causing peeling paint, crumbling plaster, or even rotting wood.
At DRY EXPERT, we identify the problem, treat it properly, and protect your home long term with breathable systems that work.

Preventing Mold Growth: The Right Way to Ventilate
One common cause is improper ventilation. Many people either ventilate too briefly or leave windows slightly open, mistakenly believing this allows for proper air exchange. However, this method is ineffective—it fails to remove humidity efficiently, cools down walls, and wastes energy.
The best solution? Smart ventilation. In moisture-prone areas like bathrooms, installing humidity-controlled extractors ensures excess moisture is removed automatically, preventing mold before it starts.
For general ventilation, it’s recommended to open multiple windows fully for 5 minutes, 2-3 times a day. This technique, known as shock ventilation, quickly replaces humid indoor air while preventing unnecessary heat loss, keeping your home dry, fresh, and energy-efficient.

Why Is Too Much Humidity Bad For Your Home?
If you let the humidity in your home go unchecked for too long, you’re putting yourself at risk for mold growth.
Mold loves warm, damp conditions, and it’ll be more than happy to start spreading throughout your home if the conditions are right.
At best, the presence of mold in your house will simply cause an unpleasant, musty smell. In more serious cases, however, inhaling mold spores can trigger allergic reactions in people with asthma or other allergies, and in the worst cases, mold will eventually start destroying any soft surfaces it is growing on.

How do our DRY-EXPERTs treat penetrating damp/damp by filtration?
If there is reason to believe the problem is coming from above, our DRY-EXPERTs will check for any signs of damage to your roof. A leak could be caused by a missing/loose roof tile or damaged connective joints, for example.
If we have not found any problem up to that point, we will check your pipes for signs of leaks.
Once the source of the issues has been identified any leaks and joints will be repaired, drains and gutters cleaned or installed if nonexistent.

Discovering dark spots on your walls?
Excessive indoor humidity, often found in kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, and crowded spaces, promotes mold growth. Here’s what you can do to help prevent this from happening:
1. Firstly, to prevent the spreading, any mold spores must be eliminated
2. If mold has already affected your furniture, disposal may be necessary
3. Avoid condensation, especially in cold corners
4. Maintain proper ventilation (air out your rooms once or twice a day for 5-10 minutes)
5. Maintain appropriate heating behaviors
6. Use dehumidifiers to maintain humidity levels between 40-60%

How To Prevent Mold Growth in Your Home
Here is what you can do to avoid mold in your house:
Keep humidity levels in your home low —no higher than 65-70%–all day long. The AC and dehumidifiers can help you keep the level low. You can buy a hygrometer to check your home’s humidity at a home improvement store or online. Humidity levels change over the course of a day so you will need to check the humidity levels multiple times a day.
Make sure your home has adequate ventilation. Use exhaust fans that vent the humid air outside your home, especially in the kitchen and bathrooms.
Leaks in your home’s roof, walls, or plumbing are a great way for water to slowly creep into your walls and feed the mold to grow. If you need professional help doing so, feel free to contact DRY-EXPERT.
Anti-condensation coatings can be a very solid and cost-effective way of preventing condensation and mold growth in the future.
Clean bathrooms and the kitchen regularly.
Remove or replace carpets and upholstery that have been soaked and cannot be dried right away. Think about not using carpet in places like bathrooms or basements that may keep a lot of moisture.

Why Damp Proofing is Essential Before Winter
The Risks of Rising Damp:
- Structural Damage:
Moisture seeps into walls, weakening plaster and paint over time.
- Health Concerns:
Damp creates an environment ripe for mold, which can affect respiratory health.
- Energy Loss:
Damp walls conduct heat poorly, increasing heating costs.
The Solution: Professional Damp Proofing
A professional damp proofing system stops moisture from rising through your walls. By installing a hydrophobic barrier, we ensure water can’t seep into your home. This is complemented by breathable plasters that allow moisture to escape, keeping your home warm and dry throughout winter.
Benefits of Damp Proofing:
- Prevents structural damage.
- Enhances indoor air quality.
- Reduces energy bills by improving insulation.
Act Now Before Winter Hits
Preparation is key to enjoying a warm, dry, and comfortable home during the colder months. Don’t wait for damp issues to worsen!

Protecting Property Value: The Role of Damp Proofing in Longevity
Over time, untreated damp issues can devalue a property significantly.
By implementing proper damp-proofing solutions, such as hydrophobic barriers and breathable wall coatings, homeowners ensure long-term protection.
This preservation keeps the building's structure intact, prevents mold growth, and enhances the overall market appeal.

Protecting Your Home from the Rainy Season: Insulation and Waterproofing Tips
A breathable, moisture-resistant barrier is essential. Modern, water-repellent insulation combined with effective sealants on walls and windows helps prevent water ingress while allowing moisture to escape, thus reducing condensation and mold growth. Additionally, good roof maintenance and window seals prevent leaks that contribute to damp conditions indoors.
By investing in insulation upgrades and waterproofing now, you can protect your home against the elements, improving comfort and indoor air quality.

Why the Time Change Marks Mold Season—and What to Do About It
During this time, homes often trap moisture against cooler exterior walls, leading to condensation and mold growth. To reduce risk, regular ventilation is key, along with using mold-resistant materials and products that regulate moisture.
Take preventive action this season to keep your home healthy.

The Role of Insulation in Moisture Control
Quality insulation creates a protective barrier, reducing the amount of moisture that infiltrates your home and keeping it dry and comfortable year-round.
We offer specialized insulation services to safeguard your home.

What does Damp Proofing do?
There are three main types of damp that commonly occur, especially as a result of bad ventilation. The three most common types of damp are:
Condensation – This is when moisture is trapped and allowed to build up inside your property combined with the lack of proper ventilation. If this is the case, you will see water droplets forming on unexpected surfaces like windows and room corners. Over time, this can cause mold spores, mildew, or paint bubbling.
Penetrating damp – This is caused when moisture (commonly from a leak in pipes, gutters, or your roof) is seeping into the walls or ceiling from an external source.
Rising damp – This is where damp is attacking the property from the ground up. This can be seen in skirting boards (causing them to rot), flaking plaster, or stained and peeling paint. Spanish houses often lack proper floor isolation making raising damp incredibly common.

How Humidity Affects the Lifespan of Your Home
Our advanced moisture control solutions, including breathable multi-layer plaster systems, help protect your home from dampness while ensuring long-term durability.

Why Proper Wall Insulation Matters for Damp Prevention
At Dry Expert, we focus on providing high-quality insulation services tailored to protect your home from damp. How Mold Can Seriously Impact Your Home’s Comfort and Well-Being
Beyond health risks, mold damages walls, ceilings, and flooring, creating a damp, musty environment. This reduces comfort by causing unpleasant odors and peeling paint. Left untreated, mold can spread rapidly, increasing the cost and complexity of repairs.
Preventing Mold in Your Home
To prevent mold growth, ensure proper ventilation in damp areas like bathrooms and kitchens. Address any leaks promptly, and consider using a dehumidifier to maintain optimal humidity levels. Additionally, improving insulation and waterproofing walls can help create a more comfortable, healthy living environment.

How to Prevent Rising Damp in Your Home
To prevent rising damp, we offer a cost-effective solution: hydrophobic injections. These injections create a water-resistant barrier in your walls, stopping moisture from rising. Our product, backed by a German manufacturer's 25-year guarantee, allows your walls to breathe while staying dry. Combined with our waterproof but breathable multi-layer plaster system, this treatment provides a long-term solution.

Fungi: The Silent Death of Millions Every Year!
Individuals with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable, as fungal infections often go unnoticed. Fungi can cause deadly lung and blood infections.
Since vaccines and effective medications against fungi are lacking and resistance is increasing, early diagnosis is crucial to contain the spread and save lives. It is therefore urgently necessary to raise awareness of fungal infections and take precautions.
Certain fungal infections can also be caused by mold. Mold is a type of fungus that occurs in the environment and is capable of causing various health problems, especially when it grows in large quantities indoors. Some types of mold-forming fungi can also cause diseases in humans, especially those who are already weakened or susceptible to infections. Therefore, it is crucial to take immediate action when mold is found in one's living area.
With DRY EXPERT you can now get rid of this problem and remove this concern of harmful mold for good.

The consequences of blocked gutters and drains
Blocked gutters and drains can cause water not to flow off properly causing it to sit on and seep through joints and into your walls and ceiling below due to lack of proper insulation.

How do our DRY-EXPERTs treat damp through condensation?
To treat condensation, we will need to improve the air circulation and ventilation within your property.
The most effective and permanent methods include investing in the installation of the correct ventilation system (especially in kitchens or bathrooms) and our special anti-condensation coating. With ventilation systems, in particular, a smart extraction unit (humidistat-controlled) is the best kind that can be fitted to a bathroom or kitchen.

Mold
Left unchecked, mold can infest drywall and floorboards that require replacing large sections of your property, and those repairs could end up costing you beyond the initial bill or make it practically impossible to sell on the market.
With DRY EXPERT you can now get rid of this problem and drastically increase the value of your home.

How Do I Know If My Home Is Too Humid?
Here are several ways you can check for high humidity levels in your house:
- Look for places where water is visibly condensing. This usually happens on windows, mirrors, pipes, and other surfaces that are generally a bit cooler.
- Look for discoloration or stains on your ceiling and walls.
Take notice if the floors, walls, and other wooden objects in your home feel damp or soft.
- Look out for the smell of mold. If you’re having trouble detecting any unusual smells in your home, try stepping outside for a few minutes and then returning.
- Take notice if you or other members of your household are displaying any allergic symptoms like wheezy breathing or a chronic cough with no clear cause.

Mold despite proper ventilation
One of the reasons may be incorrect ventilation. Often the inhabitants leave the windows open too briefly or they leave the windows slightly open thinking it will exchange the air over the course of the day.
Many people do not realize that when the windows are only slightly opened, a complete exchange of air takes too long.
Even if the windows are opened for hours, this way of airing hardly helps with mold. It undercools the walls and costs energy. That is why, in bathrooms, smart fans are recommended that switch on automatically with appropriate humidity sensors and prevent mold.
It is generally recommended to open as many windows as possible for five minutes two to three times a day. This method is called “shock ventilation” and makes sure as much air as possible is exchanged within a small amount of time, preventing the building from cooling out while keeping the air inside fresh and dry.

How Do I Deal With High Humidity In My Home?
Here they are:
- Use Your A/C
Air conditioning systems work by removing moisture and heat from the air and sending the cool, dry air inside while venting the heat and moisture outside.
- Make Sure Your Home Is Properly Ventilated
For any areas in your home where there is typically more moisture present, such as bathrooms, kitchens, and basements, you should ensure that these areas have adequate ventilation.
- Make Sure Your Home Is Properly Insulated
A home that is properly insulated will not only keep your home warmer in the winter but cooler in the summer as well. By making sure everything is sealed up, you can keep the temperature in your home more consistent and also keep excess humidity out.
- Invest In A Dehumidifier
Dehumidifiers are used specifically to remove the humidity in an enclosed area. If the humidity in your home is a problem for you, a dehumidifier may be your best option.
- Call in the (DRY-)EXPERT
If you tried all of the things mentioned above but still have problems with humidity and/or mold, we recommend you contact DRY-EXPERT.

Discovering dark spots on your walls?
Excessive indoor humidity, often found in kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, and crowded spaces, promotes mold growth. Here’s what you can do to help prevent this from happening:
Firstly, to prevent the spreading, any mold spores must be eliminated
If mold has already affected your furniture, disposal may be necessary
Avoid condensation, especially in cold corners
Maintain proper ventilation (air out your rooms once or twice a day for 5-10 minutes)
Maintain appropriate heating behaviors
Use dehumidifiers to maintain humidity levels between 40-60%
Contact DRY-EXPERT for professional mold treatment and removal
We not only remove the mold and treat the area, but also find the root cause of the mold and propose solutions to prevent further growth in the future.

How do our DRY-EXPERTs treat rising damp?
This is caused by a lack of proper ground and floor insulation combined with the natural capillarity of your walls. The perfect treatment would be to properly insulate the whole floor of your house which would probably set you back by a good fraction of the purchase price.
Luckily there’s a cheaper, just as effective method: hydrophobic injections. This method consists of a polymer transmitted by paraffin oil and injected right into your wall via injection bottles. This will create a horizontal barrier and stop more water from rising into your walls.
Compared to different injectable compounds used by other companies, our products from the German Manufacturer BKM.Mannesmann do not close the pores of the masonry but instead only cover them with a thin film letting it still breathe.
Combined with the 25-year warranty given by the manufacturer on the injection's effectiveness and our waterproof but breathable plaster system, your walls will be dry for good.

Proper ventilation in summer:
Windows open or closed on hot days?
Our DRY-EXPERTS say:
“It's best to open all the windows wide early in the morning when the air has cooled down overnight. Keep your windows and shutters closed from early noon to late afternoon when the temperatures are at their highest.
The general rule of thumb is not to open the windows until it is cooler outside than inside. You can take a look at your weather app and see when the temperatures are at their lowest. The windows can then remain open for several hours overnight so that the heat can escape sustainably.”
Don’t forget, when we shower or cook during the day, it's important to quickly get the humid air out of the house/apartment - so open all windows right away. High humidity makes for an uncomfortably muggy climate and, combined with heat, can quickly lead to mould.

Everyone NEEDS to know these health consequences of mold.
Sensitivity to molds can cause throat irritation, coughing, wheezing, nasal stuffiness, eye irritation, and skin irritation.
Susceptible individuals exposed to damp indoor environments had an increased risk of developing asthma.
Long-term effects of mold:
Lung Issues: Mold particularly attacks the lungs and the pulmonary system in general.
Even years after exposure to mold, it is possible to notice a reduction in lung function. The reduced oxygen in your body leads to migraines and decreased endurance.
Poor Mental Health: The physical issues and stresses caused by dealing with mold exposure can cause anxiety, confusion, mood swings, and depression.
Constant Fatigue: Exposure to mold causes your body to work harder to fight illnesses than it normally would have to.
This can lead individuals, especially those with pre-existing conditions like allergies and asthma to feel weak, tired and suffer from insomnia.
Memory Loss: Long-term exposure to mold can cause issues with concentration, judgment, and short-term memory in particular.
Mold might not cause you many issues right now, but now you know what to expect if it stays untreated.
DRY-EXPERT is here to help you solve all of these problems before it's too late. We offer long-term solutions for mold, dampness, and condensation.

Why Is Too Much Humidity Bad For Your Home?
can damage your home and even present a health hazard. If you let the humidity in your home go unchecked for too long, you’re putting yourself at risk for mold growth.
Mold loves warm, damp conditions, and it’ll be more than happy to start spreading throughout your home if the conditions are right. At best, mold in your house will cause an unpleasant, musty smell. In more severe cases, however, inhaling mold spores can trigger allergic reactions in people with asthma or other allergies, and in the worst cases, mold will eventually start destroying any soft surfaces it is growing on.

The Effects of Too Little Humidity
Low humidity also affects your body temperature, producing a cold feeling even when the temperature is high. Bacteria and viruses will thrive and can cause repeated health issues for you and your family.
Low humidity causes wooden floors and furniture to shrink and warp. The wallpaper on your walls might start to peel around the edges and loosen, and mold may grow behind the damaged wallpaper. In conclusion, when humidity levels in your home are too low, the environment becomes compromised. We recommend keeping it between 45% and 60% at all times.

Are you constantly battling high humidity levels in your home?
Ideally, humidity levels in your home should range between 45-65%. (You can easily check your humidity level with a hygrometer or by checking your AC control panel, if available.)
Maintaining balanced humidity is crucial. Excessive humidity can foster mold growth, while overly dry air can cause dry, cracked skin and unwanted static electricity.
Here are a few ways to identify high humidity levels in your house:
1. Check for visible condensation on windows, mirrors, pipes, and other cooler surfaces.
2. Look for discoloration or stains on ceilings and walls.
3. Feel for dampness or softness in floors, walls, and wooden objects.
4. Be alert to the musty smell of mold. If you're unsure, step outside briefly and then re-enter your home to detect any unusual odors.
5. Pay attention to any allergic symptoms among household members, such as wheezing or chronic coughing without an apparent cause.

Training new DRY-EXPERT's
DRY-EXPERT CEO Christian Groß hosted the little get-together and the participants attended the event to learn about the application of the new products.
The task was to seal off a leaking roof terrace, which caused water to seep through the ceiling into the living room below.
We spent the lunch breaks in a restaurant near the construction site.
After that, it was back to work.
We removed the old tiles and instantly saw that there was an old layer of tiles underneath and a large crack in the floor that was simply re-tiled over with a cheap sealant that obviously stopped working a long time ago. Then it was time for a demonstration of the new sealing products. Florian started off by leveling the holes in the floor with BKM-HS. Then the crack was closed with BKM-FK (liquid plastic), the floor was primed with BKM-MHG and the BKM-Flex coating was applied in multiple layers. After drying, the only thing left was to retile.
Those were exciting days and we learned a lot when it comes to the application of terrace and pool waterproofing with the new products BKM-HDS-2K and BKM-Flex Coating. We look forward to another visit as soon as there is something new to learn.

🤝One more happy client🙌

What does Damp Proofing do?
There are three main types of damp that commonly occur, especially in Spanish homes as a result of bad ventilation possibilities. The three most common types of damp are:
- Condensation – This is when moisture is trapped and allowed to build up inside your property combined with the lack of proper ventilation. If this is the case, you will see water droplets forming on unexpected surfaces like windows and room corners. Over time, this can cause mold spores, mildew, or paint bubbling.
- Penetrating damp – This is caused when moisture (commonly from a leak in pipes, gutters, or your roof) is seeping into the walls or ceiling from an external source.
- Rising damp – This is where damp is attacking the property from the ground up. This can be seen in skirting boards (causing them to rot), flaking plaster, or stained and peeling wallpaper. Spanish houses often lack proper floor isolation making raising damp incredibly common.
